Osteoporosis

Osteoporosis

The bones are the foundational support structure of the human body. They are living tissues that regenerate on a continual basis.

Causes

As we get older, the bone tissue begins to break down at a faster rate than it can regenerate, which can lead to osteoporosis. Women are more susceptible to contracting osteoporosis than men are, though the disease can affect both genders equally.

Diagnosis

Osteoporosis is a progressive bone disease that is characterized by a decrease in bone mass and density. It leads to an increased risk of fracture due to the weakening of the bone structure.

Symptoms

Symptoms of osteoporosis include back pain, stooped posture, loss of height, or a bone fracture that occurs much more easily than expected.

Treatment

If left untreated, people suffering from osteoporosis become more prone to bone fractures and breaks, even during normal daily activities. Most osteoporosis cases are treated by managing the condition with a combination of dietary changes, medications, and strength-training exercises.
